HIGHWAY ONE

Highway One was the first feature film produced by Rebecca Morandi at the end of 2019.
The film follows a group of millennials as they navigate their lives, loves, and struggles during a New Year’s Eve party in Cambria, along Highway One.

This film production came with its challenges. It was produced from a treatment and was largely improvised by the actors. Casting was key to making this project work. Highway One did its festival round in 2021, premiering at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and getting awarded prizes like the Best Ensemble Cast at the NOT Film Festival in Italy.

Highway One was then distributed in 2023 first in the UK by Bohemia Media and then in North America by Indican Pictures. You can now find Highway One on some of the main platforms - Apple TV, Amazon Prime…

(2022)

Mixing up sexuality, youth, homecoming, and escape, Highway One is about a New Year’s Eve party set in Cambria, where long-lost friends and messed-up lovers connect and disconnect. “This movie is such a love letter to California, and although mainly filmed in Southern California, I wanted it to be set somewhere rural, a small town that had a fishing-village mentality but also felt like a fairy tale, an escape — a representation of something,” said director Jaclyn Bethany, who also wrote the film. “To me, Cambria stands in for a place we leave and go back to in our lives as changed people.”
